The 12 Kits of Occasions - May '14

Well it is the 31st and that mean time for The 12 Kits of Occasions post and can you believe that it is for the month of May already?  There is lots going on in my house this weekend.  Everyone is home and which is nice after it just being me this week.  Brooklyn is home from leadership camp, James is home for a few days and Ben came in on Friday after he finished work.  So the boys are repairing our fence tomorrow, 12 years of winters has caused the posts to heave so much it is almost falling into our neighbour's yard!

Joyce was our hostess this month and she sent each of us a fabulous nautical, masculine kit with lots of opportunities for Father's Day, birthdays, thanks you's and just because.  There were perfect papers from Fancy Pants and lots of die cuts and stamped images to play with.  Have a look at the kit...

A full list of supplies that Joyce sent to us is on The 12 Kits of Occasions blog.
Joyce has two guest designer's joining us this month--Lindsey and Sherrie.

I had so much fun putting together cards with the kit.  Once started I couldn't stop and I ended up making 8 cards. So lets get on with why you are here...

Finally here they are all lined up on the window ledge.  The only window left in the house that doesn't have shutter's on it, only cheap blinds we put in when we moved in.  LOL

Thank you so much Joyce for the fabulous kit!

Pass or Fail?

IMG_5030

This card did not turn out as I had hoped, at all! In fact, it was destined for the recycle bin, but I just couldn't do it. I don't know if it is Peacock Blue distress ink that I am falling in love with, or because it was super late and I couldn't sleep. Maybe it was just because I like the grungy look of it. Regardless I really wanted to stamp out that big sentiment from my new Mama Elephant Splendid set.
I will let you be the judge.

This shot is natural daylight but I still can't get the vibrancy of the Peacock Blue to smile for the camera. :( Suggestions are most welcome!

I am going to submit it to the Addicted to CAS texture challenge.

After having a few days on my own, the house is going to fill up again. Brooklyn has been at leadership camp this week, my hubby is coming home from Edmonton today and Ben is coming home for the weekend.  I wonder if they will notice how clean the house is--all the bathrooms sparkle, all the floors have been washed, blinds and baseboards dusted and clutter put away.  Outside will they see that I cut the lawn? That the gardens have been cleaned up from the winter.  They will think I hired someone to do it all--ha ha!

CCC #97

Time for this week's CASology Cue Card:

We have a lovely bumble bee family living in our backyard. Harmless really but darling daughter is sure they are waiting to sting her.  A little new home card and some Copic colouring for this CAS card.    Leaving some room between the cluster of images and the sentiment gives lots of breathing room and does not clutter the design!

1.  One main image--bee's and hive cluster
2.  Lots of open space
3.  Limited layers & embellishments--none
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

Happy Tuesday and you know it is time for this week's new palette the colourQ!
I am absolutely in love with these colours together. The Tangerine Tango and Bermuda Bay looks so fantastic together.

Playing around with some layers this week.

Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop

IMG_5005<

Can you believe that we are already at the May Papertrey Ink Blog Hop?
I am sure that Christmas was just yesterday!

This month the theme is to create a project using the colours aqua and melon. I decided to play around with a bit of watercolouring for the hop today.  I put some ink from my ink pads on to my craft mat and spritzed the ink with a bit of water.  Then I picked up the watered down ink with my stamps.  The sentiment was stamped directly with ink.  I wish the camera was kinder to my photo because the colours are beautiful in real life.

Enjoy the rest of the hop!

Runway Inspired Challenge #60

IMG_4976

Happy Saturday!

After a week of not feeling like doing anything, not even to get crafty I woke Friday morning ready to give my mojo a jump start. Playing along with the current Runway inspired Challenge I created this card.  I picked up on the colours making yellow my focal point.  I also made a note to myself that I need to get an origami stamp set! On a grey card base I created a frame using Hawaiian Shores patterned paper, stamped the inside of the frame with some graphic lines using pink and topped it with a bright yellow Happy Birthday die cut. Of course I had to finish it off with a few grey sequins!

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend, the weather forecast looks great here.
Just 4 more sleeps until hubby comes home!
