Fresh Start to the New Year - January '17

Can you believe it is the end of January already?
Time for another new post at The 12 Kits of Occasions!

The lovely Lindsey Larsen, Occasional Crafting, is our hostess this month and she sent each of us an absolutely gorgeous kit full of love and kindness! The colours, the stamps, the die cut and the embellishments--oh my!

Moving right on to what you are here for. I made 5 cards for today using all the fun supplies in the kit...

Birch Press Design | Shimmering Watercolor Rainbow Hearts

I am up over on the Birch Press Design blog today creating a card featuring a shimmering rainbow of watercolored hearts. Sometimes a beautiful and fun card can be created with the simplest of elements. The four stacked hearts have been watercolored in bold colours and each have a lovely iridescent glow from the shimmer mist that was applied after the watercolor dried.

To recreate this card you will need watercolor paper, watercolor paint and shimmer spray. Peerless Watercolors, and Birch Press Design Perfect Hearts dies from the Birch Press Design store were used for this card but you could also use the Birch Press Designs Simple Hearts dies. Watercolor four panels, one in each color of your rainbow.  After the panels dried water was spritzed on the panels and soaked up with paper towel to add some distressing. This was seen in Angel Rivera's Rainbow Heart Shaker tutorial from last week. Shimmer mist was then generously sprayed on to the panels and once again they were set to dry. Once completely dry simply die cut one of each colour using the four heart dies.

Prepare your card base and add the sentiment to the bottom centre of the front panel. Adhere the largest heart to the top centre of the card base with adhesive tape. Then adhere the rest of the hearts going down one size at a time with adhesive foam tape.

Essentials by Ellen January Pin-Sights Challenge

IMG_1605

I pulled out a few sets to create a card for the Essentials by Ellen January Pin-Sights Challenge. I started by sponging some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on a Bristol panel. Then I spritzed some water on it and absorbed it up with a paper towel. One dry I gold embossed the sentiment from Lovely. It has been a while since I have used my ZIG's but I always love colouring this sweet bear from the All Inside stamp set. I stamped and coloured a bouquet of flowers from Bear Ware stamp set for him to hold. Then I painted the bouquet with Wink of Stella and added a small dot of Nuvo Silver Moondust glitter drops to the flower centres. I adhered the bear and a small gold embossed a pink ZIG coloured heart with foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Inspired By All the Little Things #41

IMG_1566

Today I have a card to share with you that I created for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things.  I am the hostess this week and I thought this inspiration was just perfect for Valentine's Day.

I focused on the colours and the textures of the inspiration for my card. Starting with a kraft card base I die cut a white stitched panel and adhered it to the base. The sentiment was stamped on the white panel in black. I applied super strong Scor-Tape to the front of the card and then I wrapped jute cord around the card to mimic the photo. Finally I die cut two hearts from Papertrey Ink's Pure Poppy and Raspberry Fizz felt and adhered them to the jute.
